Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Dambi Natural 250g

from £13.95

Bekele Yutete is a third generation farmer who inherited his farm from his parents and has spent over 10 years cultivating coffee on this land. Alongside coffee, Bekele also grows bananas, false bananas, and avocados, but whereas these plants act as a source of food, his investment in coffee is as a cash crop that is a source of income for Bekele and his family.

This coffee, which placed 4th in the Ethiopia Cup Of Excellence in 2024, was produced by Bekele Yutute, on his family’s farm in Dambi village, Sidama. Harvest took place between October 2023 and January 2024, and was processed at Dambi village’s own drying station.

During processing, cherries were hand sorted, then dried on raised African beds. Because these beds are outdoors, weather conditions were carefully monitored, and drying cherries were covered overnight and during rain or intense midday sun. This lot of cherries took between 12 and 15 days to be dried to satisfaction.

Following this, the dried cherries were hulled and then sorted into grades
